I earned my bachelor's in English at the University of Utah. I have 20 years of teaching under my belt, primarily working with third graders. I have a thorough understanding of standardized testing, able to help students achieve higher performance scores on the overall exam. In addition, I have taught students with learning disabilities and special educational needs. I have led teaching workshops to train other teachers to achieve greater results while teaching their students with success. As a tutor, I have experience working with elementary through college-level students in math, English, algebra, and English as a Second Language (ESL). When tutoring students one-on-one, I firmly believe it is important to personalize the entire session, from explanations to teaching materials. I can help my students work through complex concepts to develop a deeper understanding of the subject material. I constantly evaluate my students for progress, slowing down or speeding up as needed to allow for optimal learning. I spend a lot of my time on internet research, learning about animals, health, and literature. I love to spend time with my pets, exploring Houston for delicious healthy foods, and watching movies. In addition, I am an avid reader, particularly with nutrition, fantasy, and historical books.
